A brief  history:
On June 30, 1955, twelve people attended the first meeting of the then 'Lakeside Gem and Mineral Society', at the
Scout Hut in Lakeside, Ca. On December 20, 1958, the club moved to Wells Park in El Cajon and changed its name
to El Cajon Valley Gem And Mineral Society. On April 13, 1959, our organization became incorporated.
ECVGMS is a non profit organization and is open to all people, young and old. We currently have 80 active members. We have a
variety of educational programs, workshops and field trips. ECVGMS is proud of it's community involvement through participation
in local events, classroom visits, and our
annual show.

Our club has a shop with a variety of lapidary equipment including: three slab saws, various grinding and polishing equipment, a
couple of trim saws, 4 faceting machines, as well as casting and metal smithing equipment.  The shop is open three days a week
to
members and the second Saturday of the month to our junior members, who we call "Tiger eyes".

Our club meets monthly at the beautiful
Heritage of the Americas Museum at  Cuyamaca college. Everyone is welcome to attend
our monthly meetings, to see if they would like to join our club. Our meetings are on the second Friday of each month at 7 p.m. The
address is;The Heritage of the Americas Museum,12110  Cuyamaca College Drive West, El Cajon, California.  92019.
