El Cajon Valley Gem And Mineral Society
Welcome to the El Cajon valley gem and mineral society’s website.
Thanks to our dedicated members, we have a growing and interesting site. A
primary reason that our site is full of interesting things is because our club is full
of interesting people. Are you interested in rock hounding? We have people that
do that. Is your thing making jewelry? We have people that do that. Do you wish
to know more about our planet’s formation and its elements and minerals? We
have people that have that covered. In short we have a lot of skilled, talented, and
well educated people.
Most of our monthly meetings at the Heritage Museum, have a educational
segment, where members or guests enlighten us about their own subject of
interest. We review upcoming field trips that are sponsored by our club and by
others.
We also have plenty of mix and mingle time when you can single out a member
and pick their brains. Come early and walk around the Heritage Museum.
We are proud of our workshop. We have all the tools, from large rock saws
to faceting tools. All members are encouraged to use the shop. At the shop we
also have classes teaching people how to do even more artistic things with their
hands.
We have members that take time to visit our local schools to educate the
school children about things relating to rocks, minerals, and dinosaur bones.
